The mother of the 37-year-old Austrian, Christian Schallert, was stunned when she heard that her son had bought a 24 m2 apartment in Barcelona. It’s a simple fact that buying a house is expensive; it requires a mortgage, insurance, real estate agents and fixed costs.

Not only was the mother upset about the small size of the apartment, but she was also upset that the apartment was located on a roof and therefore hard to reach.

It’s an option to have your house renovated by a contractor, but Christian decided to fix it all up himself and to renovate it to his own taste and design.
